Save the Date! Sakakawea Medical Center Hospice’s annual Grape Escape fundraiser is on April 8 at Hazen City Hall at 7 p.m. Enjoy an evening out while sampling hors d’oeuvres and wine! Spend some time browsing and bidding on items in the silent and live auctions! Tickets are $40 in advance or $45 at the door. Tickets are available at Hazen Bottle Shop, Union Bank, Union State Bank, and the Hospice Office.

Local businesses Union State Bank and Stroup Insurance have provided the SMC Foundation with $3,000 in match funds to kick off Giving Hearts Day. Giving Hearts Day is a 24-hour fundraising event for charities in North Dakota and northwest Minnesota. As the longest-running giving day in the country, GHD has helped charities raise more than $112 million since its founding.

This Valentine’s Day, help support your local Hospice program and make someone’s day by sending them cookies! Order forms are available at Beulah Drug, Hazen Drug, Bronson’s, Krause’s, and the SMC Hospice Office. Orders must be placed by Wednesday, February 9. Cookie trays will also be sold at Hazen City Hall on Saturday, February 12 (11 a.m. – 1 p.m.), and Monday, February 14 at the Hospice Office, while supplies last. SMC has teamed up with the UND Center for Rural Health, Coal Country Community Health Center, Custer Health, Hilltop Home of Comfort and Knife River Care Center to gather information about the communities we serve and learn more about how local services are used. The results of this survey will be used to develop a plan to improve and expand the care we provide.
